Beware Cherrypal Laptops – I Made a Mistake

Man, do I feel foolish. I wrote a post about Cherrypal laptops a couple of days ago after learning about them in a Trend Watching article. I reviewed their site and their products and everything looked very nice. I mean how can you argue with a cheap, simple, green laptop? But I was wrong.

Thanks to an anonymous email I received from “trutunz”, I learned Cherrypal is not everything they’re cracked up to be. I did a search on “cherrypal scam” and found quite a few websites with plenty of complaints. One poster had a link to Cherrypal’s BBB rating.

See Cherrypal’s very poor BBB rating here

I have not personally dealt with Cherrypal so I cannot tell you about my own experiences. But I would suggest you do your own research before purchasing a Cherrypal laptop.

Again, I apologize for my earlier post.

Cherrypal has problems, it’s clear, but what’s not clear is that it’s all a scam. They issued some refunds, so I don’t understand how that fits into the scam methodology. About the most convincing scam evidence I’ve seen is that there was a tracking number from Hong Kong provided to a Cherrypal Africa buyer (hep-cat) in Germany that turned out to be for another German addressee. Yet even that is not conclusive. I don’t understand either why the person who emailed you, “trutunz,” needed to send “an anonymous email.” Maybe it is a scam, and not delay and unpreparedness and incompetence, but I am still waiting for the proof.

Hey Velcro_SP…..You are correct in that Cherrypal is not necessarily a “scam” (that I’m aware of) and I reviewed my posts to make sure I didn’t say it was a scam. But it’s pretty clear after reading about buyers’ experiences that the company does NOT have their act together in terms of their business practices. In my opinion, the frustrations with dealing with incompetence is almost as bad as dealing with a scammer, especially when you’re requesting a refund and not getting any response. Thanks for your comment.

Ordered a cherrypal windows and they said that their ability to order by credit card was cut off and they’d have it up in a week..its been 3 weeks.
don’t return phone calls ..and when you email them the automatic response says pay by western union or by ck..
    huh?

Wow….Susan, thanks for posting this information. Imagine having a business and not being able to accept credit cards! Scary stuff. So it sounds like you’re not out any money, right? I sure hope not. Thank you again for posting and for visiting my site.

Cherrypal is not a scam, they are just selling those cheap generic netbook from Shenzhen, China with a environmental friendly rebranding.

Cherrypal is a scam. I know this personally. Maybe a couple things were actually shipped, but Max Seybold will take your money, promise you goods and even tell you they are shipped. You will receive nothing though. They don’t even respond to the BBB. It is a pure scam. Max Seybold is a fraud and is taking advantage of people. Pure and simple fraud. Max Seybold is a liar and has lied to me directly in email in regards to my purchase. Stay away. never ever buy from them.

  • Sam

Max promised me a refund but in the end I had to get one from my credit card company.

I know he’s flogging Chinese netbooks, and I want one, I just dont trust Max or the Cherrypal brand.

  • TIC

Max Seybold and his Cherrypal are a shrewd scam. He probably ships to some just to keep a semblance of being genuine.
