Affiliate Millionaire Bonus – The Sharks Are Swimming!

Category : Grumblings

I get a chuckle from watching all the Internet Marketers trample all over each other whenever there is a big product launch. The most recent example being Andrew Fox’s Affiliate Millionaire course.

I have received sooooo many emails from these guys this week. Their strategy is to load you up with bonus after bonus for buying Affiliate Millionaire through their link. The last email I received (just a couple of minutes ago) came from Simon Hodgkinson. Simon really went all out. Check this out (will open in new window).

Don’t you love the big red animated arrow? And get this –> “And you get access to us for your team!” That marketing approach seems to be in vogue these days.

“Wow, my team gets to work with your team and together we will make buckets of money! Where do I sign up?!?!”

Uh, I think I will pass. Thanks anyway.

Consider yourself warned – THE SHARKS ARE SWIMMING!

Beware Cherrypal Laptops – I Made a Mistake

9

Category : Grumblings

Man, do I feel foolish. I wrote a post about Cherrypal laptops a couple of days ago after learning about them in a Trend Watching article. I reviewed their site and their products and everything looked very nice. I mean how can you argue with a cheap, simple, green laptop? But I was wrong.

Thanks to an anonymous email I received from “trutunz”, I learned Cherrypal is not everything they’re cracked up to be. I did a search on “cherrypal scam” and found quite a few websites with plenty of complaints. One poster had a link to Cherrypal’s BBB rating.

See Cherrypal’s very poor BBB rating here

I have not personally dealt with Cherrypal so I cannot tell you about my own experiences. But I would suggest you do your own research before purchasing a Cherrypal laptop.

Again, I apologize for my earlier post.

Anik Singal Income Kickstart – Whose Income Are We Kickstarting?

19

Category : Grumblings

Did you receive your Anik Singal Income Kickstart email this week? Did you watch the video? According to Anik’s latest email, 4,132 people did. I hate to admit it but yes, I am one of those 4,132 people who did view the video.

However, I didn’t watch all of it. I managed to get to the part where he was telling us what an incredible value the Income Kickstart system is but I didn’t/couldn’t wait around to find out the price.

“I’m sorry, Anik, I just couldn’t stomach any more of the hypey salespitch! And Anik, I’m really sorry to hear you were in the ICU at one point. But thank goodness you could run your business by phone at the same time. You are one amazingly dedicated Internet Marketer!”

In case you didn’t see the video, the Income Kickstart system (or method or whatever you want to call it) has something to do with building 1-page websites where your sole purpose is to collect their email address. According to Anik, one email address is theoretically worth $1.00. Collect 500 email addresses and you could earn $500 (theoretically). “Just think how easy it is to collect just 1 email address”! (His words, not mine) Yeah, right!

Anik says on the Income Kickstart video that the email addresses are collected in a database. Hmmm, I wonder who owns and has access to that database? Just imagine what Anik and his company could do with all these email addresses that were collected by their minions! Oh, and get this – Anik says you can sell the email addresses you collect for BIG BUCKS. I wonder if these 1-page websites are going to mention that your email address might be/probably will be sold in the future.

Like I said, I have no idea how much Anik Singal is getting for his new Income Kickstart system/method/scam but I know I won’t be one those pulling out their credit cards. But I have a feeling Anik will definitely be kickstarting his own income real soon!

Cherrypal Laptops – Cheap, Simple, Green

Category : Grumblings

(** IMPORTANT NOTICE **) – After posting the ‘review’ below, I was made aware of potential issues with Cherrypal’s business practices. Please read the following post for more details. Questionable Cherrypal Business Practices Post

There is a growing movement in the United States toward frugality, simplicity, and environmentally friendly. Fortunately, companies are starting to take notice and produce products to meet this increasing demand.

Cherrypal laptops are some of the latest examples. Cherrypal offers an interesting line of cheap, simple, green laptops. But don’t mistake “cheap” for “flimsy”. The Cherrypal line of laptops (Africa and Bing) appear to be solidly built and they come with a one year warranty. Let’s take a look at the Africa and the Bing.

The Cherrypal Africa costs $99. That’s right – $99! No, you won’t be creating a presentation on it while crunching numbers in a spreadsheet and downloading your stock portfolio in the background but that’s not what it’s made for. (Note: The $99 version of the Africa comes with Linux. You can get it with Windows XP for $118.)

The specs of the Cherrypal Africa include:

- 400 MHz processor, 256 MB DDR / 2 GB NAND-flash
- 7 inch high-resolution TFT screen
- LAN:10/100M Ethernet Access, WIFI: IEEE 802.11 b/g Ethernet RJ-45
- QWERTY 86 key keyboard with built-in mouse touch panel
- USB port
- SD / MMC card slot (8GB)
- Built-in Lithium battery – time:4 Hrs
- Built-in speaker and microphone

The Cherrypal Africa is a great looking laptop with all the necessary features for checking emails, browsing the Internet, and doing basic computing (word processing, etc.).

The Cherrypal Bing is a great option for those that require a little more computing power than the Africa. The Bing is one of the fastest and most affordable laptops today (in the 13″ screensize product line) costing just $389.

The Cherrypal Bing is a very nice looking machine and is as slim as a runway model! The Bing comes with Windows XP installed and features the Intel Atom N280 processor. Other technical specs include:

- 13.3″ screen with 1280×800 resolution
- 1 GB DDRII memory,
- 160 GB HDD, Intel GMA950 Graphics Engine
- 3 USB 2.0 slots
- SD/MMC/MS card socket
- Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11 b/g) built-in, RJ-45 Ethernet
- Built-in microphone and dual speakers
- 1.3M Pixel web camera
- Weight 3 lbs
- 5 hour battery life

As you can see, Cherrypal has created a great line of cheap, simple, and green laptops for a growing market segment. In my opinion, it’s a job well done!

Clipping Your Nails At Work

Category : Grumblings

Clipping your nails at work has got to be one of the most irritating, disgusting things a person can do. Can anyone tell me why people think it’s okay to do?

My cubicle neighbor has been clipping his nails for the past 5 minutes. And he’s on a freakin’ phone call at that. I wonder what the person on the other end of the line is thinking.

Apparently clipping your nails at work is not a gender-based thing either. Both of my cubicle neighbors do it and one is a male and the other a female. Please explain this to me.

This behavior is just another example of why people were not born to work in cubicles in Corporate America. It feels like we’re all just a bunch of piggies enclosed in our pens with little name tags around our necks. The primary objective of the day is to find the tastiest teet to suck on that will move us up to a more important pen where we might be fed more slop.

Truly disgusting and very depressing.

Sidekick Slide Hard Reset Problem – Follow-up Post

5

Category : Grumblings

This post is a follow-up to my T-Mobile Sidekick Slide Reset fiasco, located HERE.

When we last left our T-Mobile victims, er uh, I mean ‘customers’, they were trying to decide if they should send their defective Sidekick Slide phone to T-Mobile for repairs or send it to Motorola.

I had already tried T-Mobile once so I knew they wouldn’t really repair it so I decided to give Motorola a try. We boxed everything up and sent it off to Texas without much hope of anything changing. Motorola said it would take 7-10 business days.

To Motorola’s credit they provide a tracking tool on their website to check on the status of your repairs. We checked it occasionally but didn’t pay too much attention to it.

After about 5 or 6 days the phone arrived back from Texas. At first glance nothing seemed different. (I was kind of hoping they would replace the entire phone.) But upon closer examination my daughter proclaimed “they gave us a memory card”!

Sure enough, Motorola installed a memory card in the repaired Sidekick Slide at no charge. Although this doesn’t sound like a big deal, it was nice of them to do so because my daughter could then save her contacts to the memory card which means she won’t lose them if the phone reset itself.

We reinstalled the battery and attempted to put on the battery cover. I say “attempted” because the battery was now raised slightly above the surface of the phone so the cover wouldn’t slide on as it did before the repair. I managed to ‘force it on’ but it’s still not even with the phone casing.

But in the end, it appears Motorola did in fact fix the hard reset problem. My daughter hasn’t experienced a problem with it since it came back from them. So I give Motorola TWO thumbs up for fixing it and for the free memory card and I give T-Mobile TWO thumbs DOWN for being a pain in the arse and their absolutely horrid customer service.

Hope this helps other Side Slick users who might be experiencing the hard reset problem. Good luck!

Beware of T-Mobile – My Sidekick Slide Horror Story

2

Category : Grumblings, Products to Avoid

The following is a blurb I’ve posted to a few cell phone forums seeking some help for my Sidekick Slide problem – the one where the phone resets itself for no apparent reason. I have definitely learned that T-Mobile absolutely sucks the big one when it comes to customer service. They couldn’t care less about you once they have you commited to a contract. Learn from my horror story and STAY AWAY FROM T-MOBILE!!!

—- Forum Posting Starts Here —–

I bought a Sidekick Slide for my daughter at Christmas 2007. Two to three months later the ‘hard reset’ problem (well documented on the internet) started occurring. After experiencing the problem for a couple months, we eventually contacted T-Mobile for help. (Comment: I hesitate to use the word “help” and T-Mobile in the same sentence.)

The customer service rep, who I could barely understand, first tried to sell me the $20 per month data plan claiming that would fix the phone reset problem. I told them the data plan had nothing to do with the phone resetting. Yes, the data plan would solve the issue of losing absolutely everything on the phone when it reset itself, but not the problem with it resetting for no rhyme or reason. After many, many minutes and much back-and-forth, the rep eventually agreed to send a replacement phone – a refurbished one. All this took place in June.

After receiving the refurbished phone, we returned the defective one and began using the new one. Needless to day, the problem reappeared soon thereafter.

This week my daughter was so frustrated with losing all her contacts when the phone reset itself and she asked me to call T-Mobile again. I dreaded it but I called T-Mobile again.

Once again, I explained the problem with the hard reset to the customer service rep and once again she started trying to sell me a data plan for $20 per month. She actually told me the problem would not occur if I had the data plan. I told her that is false and deceptive advertising if you sell the Sidekick Slide knowing there will be problems if you don’t buy the data plan. Her response was “Well, I hate to tell you this but lots of companies do it”. My reply was “the Attorney General will be very interested in hearing this”.

I insisted on talking with a supervisor. She reluctantly agreed and put me on-hold for over half an hour before the supervisor finally answered.

At first, the supervisor also tried to sell me a data plan but soon backed off when she realized I wasn’t some sucker. I told her I wanted the phone replaced with either a Sidekick LX or 2008. She said they couldn’t do that per policy but they could send me a replacement since it’s still under warranty.

She went on to say I would have to take the phone to a UPS store and have it sent to them. If we need/want a replacement phone in the meantime, we’ll have to go to our local T-Mobile store and get a loaner. (They sent me a replacement phone first the last time it was replaced but according to the supervisor, they’re not supposed to do that so she wouldn’t.)

Has anyone had any success in getting a defective Sidekick Slide replaced? If so, what is the “secret”? Is there a special number or a particular person/department I should talk to?

BTW, I called Motorola this morning and they said send it to them and they will repair it since it’s under warranty. Does anyone know if the repair will get rid of the ‘hard reset’ problem?

Thank you in advance for any and all tips and information.
