Back in February, I wrote a post about my thoughts and experiences on a possible Fiverr scam. Specifically, I wondered if a person could receive good results using this new service. My first experience with a new Fiverr job was not encouraging. However, my second request (requesting 200 Likes to a Facebook page) was completed on-time and with good results.
I then posted three more Fiverr jobs: one article rewrite request and two requests for new articles. All were excellent and I couldn’t have been happier with the results. In fact, I am still using one of the writers for additional content (outside of Fiverr) today.
So given my subsequent very positive results with Fiverr after an initial rough start, I would have to say that Fiverr is not a scam and I recommend it for quick, simple outsourced tasks. But keep in mind that your experiences might be different (obviously).
Here are a few tips off the top of my head for having a successful Fiverr experience:
- Check the person’s feedback before hiring them. How many positive reviews do they have?
- Check the number of days to delivery. Does it fit your timeline?
- How many orders are in their queue? Will they be able to meet the delivery schedule if they have 20 pending orders in their queue?
- Be very thorough in your task description. Don’t leave anything open to interpretation or assumption. Spell out every detail. Taking time up front to get it right will pay off in the end.
- Remember to check your Fiverr inbox and respond to questions quickly.
- Be sure to leave feedback, both positive and negative.
By following these few simple recommendations, you too can have a positive Fiverr experience.
I wanted to share a good alternative to fiverr. Even though fiverr is a great site and concept, http://www.peoplestox.com offers some pretty cool things.
1.- set your own price
2.- get your money in 24hrs (no internal account, no min sales to collect, you get your money automatically in 24hrs)
3.- only 15% commission(fiverr charges 20%)
And as a buyer looking to outsource, I think http://www.peoplestox.com does a better job at screening their sellers. All experiences posted are reviewed and approved, which translates into higher quality offerings and serious sellers.
I hope this was helpful
Hello Yagovf79…
I typically don’t approve people’s comments containing an external link (most are spam anyway) but I left your comment as is because the Fiverr alternative site you mentioned seems legit. I thought some of the prices were too high for some of the gigs (for ex: an article for $25) but I think that’s just part of the startup, growing pain phase. I will definitely keep this new site in mind whenever I need a quick, cheap job completed.
Thanks for posting.
Great article!! Ive had a Great experience on fiverr as a seller, i joined about a month ago, i’ve made enough money to pay my bills, and yes always check feedback and ratings, i became a Top Rated Seller in a month, the secret is to deliver in time, and deliver what you advertise, this is my fiverr profile you can see it for yourself http://fiverr.com/users/thepianist1
HI Alex…
I’m happy to hear Fiverr is working out for you. I agree with you on what it takes to be a top seller. Keep up the great work!
Fivers World is a good alternative for fiverr with lower fees of only 10%.
We invite you to visit and check it out
I was sceptical when I first heard about fiverr and joined as a seller in November 2010. I’ve made over 1000 to date and been having a lot of fun doing all sorts of fun and quirky gigs. I too am a top rated seller with 100% positive feedback – I always over-deliver and provide much more for your $5 than you’d expect. Always check the feedback, communicate with the sellers (and expect answers to your messages promptly – beware of any sellers who don’t respond). Be careful how you spend your $5 – yes it IS only $5 but it’s still YOUR $5 so as long as you know what you want, and have asked if it’s possible, you deserve a good service.
Finally, take a look at my profile and say hello – I don’t bite! http://www.fiverr.com/madmoo (also http://www.facebook.com/madmoofiverr – feel free to remove the links, but I feel it’s helpful to see how a seller SHOULD operate).
Thanks
Ang
Ang, I typically will not approve a comment containing a link but because you were upfront about it, I went ahead and approved. Thanks for your comment. I think it’s good information for people seeking ways to make money online.

Ankit,
Just to clarify – this site (Netknucklehead.com) is not associated with the Fiverr site in any shape, way, or form. I’m sorry to hear about your difficulties signing up with Fiverr but unfortunately, I am unable to assist you. Good luck.
