Hello there,
I see that you have a very important question that need answer. Writing great article for your website is vital. I speak to you as an internet marketing trainer so I would definetely know the right place for you. When It comes to writing good articles for cheap, I have a great site for you. Here it is:
http://www.need-an-article.com/
the average cost per article us for a 500 words article and the service comes with a monthly fee of around 9 us dollars. So I hope that falls into the range of cheap article service you were looking for.

Expense may be a relative way of looking at it. If you need to deal with a ‘cheaper’ service, you may spend time in fixing what has been written. I’d try elance or something similar. I’ve had success with elance before, but have not used it for article writing.
I think you should remember one important point – You usually get what you pay for!
Content for a new website and content for articles linked to your website is critical in getting your website ranked highly in the search results. There are tons of freelance writers and writing services – just put web content writer and your location in the search box.
Avoid the deals that look to good. They might put 500 words together for you – but they won’t take the time to use appropriate keywords in a way that makes sense to a internet user.
Try to find someone who is somewhat familiar with your type of business.
Good Luck – Content is Key to a good website
Generally speaking, you get what you pay for. I would say that paying anything less than $30-50 for a 500 word article is going to yield crappy content. Even at the $30-50 rate, this is going to yield content on the lower end of the quality scale. Anyone writing a 500 word article should be spending 4+ hours minumum on the article researching, writing, and proofreading it.
Personally, I wouldn’t want $5/article content on my site. Someone willing to work for $1.25 an hour generally either a) lives in a 3rd world country and speaks/writes broken English or b) they are not writing the articles at all and are instead likely stealing content from other sites, running them through an “article spinner” program, then tweaking the results a bit and are done in about 10 minutes NEITHER of which is desirable. But that is just me.
If you’re interested in quality content, either write it yourself or be prepared to pay a “reasonable” price. If I were looking for someone to write quality content I would use two methods to find them:
1) I would go to ezinearticles.com and read articles on the topic that I want content for. I would find writers there (of all the article submission sites, theirs is probably the best) that write good content and email them about writing articles for you.
OR
2) I would go to a site like helium.com. Helium has a marketplace where you can create a contest essentially. You say, “I am willing to pay $40 for a 500-700 word article about topic XXX.” You give other specifications about what you’re looking for in the article. Lots of authors write articles and submit them for your contest. When the contest ends you can choose not to buy any of the articles if you don’t like them, buy one for the agreed upon price if there is one you like… or even buy multiple ones that were submitted if you decide you want more than one. Once you buy them they are yours. You can add links to them, modify them, whatever. It’s a pretty cool service.
If you go about your search in a systematic manner, then it should not be a problem to find a good article writing service. Try the following approach;
a) Go to three of the main search engines and type in some keyword phrases linked to your search i.e. article writing, article writing service, best article writing services etc.
b) Take the first three that comes up on the first page, and go into each site (total of 9 sites)
c) Look at their site layout, references, quality and costs, and then make an informed decision.
You will naturally feel attracted to one or two services based on your findings in (c). As a caution, I would generally not opt for anything less than $10 per 500 words as the quality is bound to be suspect, although there could be exceptions.
