"Niche Site Confessions "
By Codrut Turcanu
Last week I bought a new ebook by Codrut Turcanu titled "Niche Sites Confessions".
I had promised myself that I wasn't going to purchase any more ebooks or courses until I did something with the ones I had, especially books about how someone is making a great living on the Internet.
However, Codrut's ebook was recommended by a couple of people online who I respect so I decided to give it a try - fully expecting to take advantage of the money back guarantee.
But SURPRISE, SURPRISE, I was pleasantly surprised!
This "how I made a lot of money" ebook is actually interesting, informative, and helpful. Let me give you some examples:
Interview with Danny Ho - The first interview is probably the least interesting of the three. Why? Because Mr. Ho only uses Site BuildIt (SBI) and if you're familiar with Site BuildIt at all, you know that it is pretty much an all-in-one tool.
Mind you, this isn't a knock on SiteBuildIt. It's just that most people do not have access to the same set of 'tools' because they're incorporated into SBI. (e.g., Brainstorming)
Mr Ho does make a great point about breaking keyword sections into 'mini-themes'. The purpose of this approach is to avoid battling it out over a group of highly competitive keywords. Go after very specific keyterms instead.
Let's say that you were going to target 'golf clubs' as your site's theme. Instead of competing with over 3 million sites for that particular term, go after 'womens custom golf clubs' (180 competing), 'used orlimar golf clubs' (229 competing), etc, etc. You get the idea. Great advice.
Interview with John Gibb - Things started heating up in the second interview.
Mr. Gibb is a 21-year old gentlemen who found success online by building websites that provide helpful content covering overlooked keywords. (It doesn't get more straightforward than that!)
In his interview, Mr. Gibb covers the following: his personal goal for number of content pages, how to choose a topic, the absolute one thing you must research before attempting to build a passive income, his own guide to passive income in 2 months, and more.
I used quite a bit of highlighter in the John Gibb interview!
Interview with Phil Wiley - As you may know, Phil Wiley is known by some as "The King of the Mini-Net". But Phil surprised me a little with some of his comments, which I found helpful and somewhat inspiring.
Phil makes an excellent point about using one of his ebooks for different audiences. All he had to do was simply change a little of the first paragraph and he could target one of several different markets. He built different sites for each of them. This approach is truly targeted marketing.
Another surprise I got from Phil was his mention and admiration of Michael Campbell's 'Revenge of the Mininet'.
However, it made sense when Phil mentioned that he has well over 100 mini sites in the search engines, often grouped together. This is classic "mininet revenge".
Other topics of interest from Mr. Wiley include:
===> How he works with mini sites
===> His mention of Traffic Equalizer as a site building tool
===> What he looks for in affiliate programs
I thought the Wiley interview was very well done, informative, and useful.
The Niche Site Confessions ebook also includes two bonuses. (Doesn't every ebook you buy these days!)
The first one is "Super Affiliates Confessions Revealed" and the second one is "Top Affiliate Tactics Uncovered" - '6 Success Stories of Affiliates Making Money Using SiteBuildIt! Tools'.
To be honest, I haven't had time to read the bonus material yet. And although I still own an SBI site (until 2/2005), I don't have a lot of interest in SiteBuildIt stories. But I will still read them because there are still nuggets of information to be uncovered.
In summary, I found "Niche Site Confessions" to be eye-opening, a fun read, and useful. I will definitely be following some of the strategies mentioned in the ebook. Trust me, I don't often say that after reading ebooks.
